Our last full day on the Big Island was one of relaxation. We has some final souvenier shopping to do, so we traveled to the Ali'i Marketplace. Here were multiple wooden huts that made up an open-air mall. As we browsed, we passed a woodworking shop and noticed quite a few geckos around. They are as prevalent as mongoose on the Big Island, but they are fast and hard to photograph.

This shopkeeper had formed an alliance of sorts with her orange-speckled neighbors. She provided them shade, shelter from predators and additional sustenance in the form of Del Monte fruit cup nectar. They, in turn, kept the bug population down. She gave me the opportunity to actually catch one on film!

We also spent time wandering the grounds one last time at the Kanaloa at Kona condos complex. The oceanfront has a lava trail. Different from the lava beds at the Old Kona Airport park, where they were smooth and ropy, these were crumbly and rocky. At the bottom of the page are some of the flora we encountered during those walks.

For our final dinner, we returned to Huggo's for one last Hawaiian sunset dining experience.
