Maida was teaching in the San Joaquin valley when she met and later married Courtney 'Clare' Kendall. They wed on April 17, 1916. The had two sons, Gardner Warren Kendall (1918-1994) and Calvin Wells Kendall (1920-1999). The family moved to the Sebastopol, California, area in 1938. Gardner, in family remembrances, recalls that Maida was a good cook, well-educated (her assistance with schoolwork allowed him to skip the 1st and 8th grades) and enjoyed visiting her parents at their home in Berkeley, California.
Maida lived to celebrate her 50th wedding anniversary with Clare in 1966 before he died in April of 1967. Maida passed on in the Sebastopol Convalescent Hospital in March of 1973.
Before passing, Maida was made a great-gandmother four times. Pictured are four generations of Kendall women - Tricia Kuba (me), Shirley Dee (Kendall) Kuba (my mother), Maida (my great-grandmother) and Dorothy (Wight) Kendall (my grandmother) in Sebastopol, California (June, 1970).
