Saturday, 12/11/04 - Half Moon Cay - 8:00am- 4:00pm
A tour of the ship
Saturday morning dawned with a more noticable rolling motion onboard than on previous days. Half Moon Cay was not equipped with a pier substantial enough for the ms Oosterdam, thus necessitating using tenders to go ashore. Unfortunately, the rolling motion was caused by rough seas and after about 2 hours of trying, the captain announced that due to the weather conditions, they were unable to anchor and safely have passengers board the tenders. We watched them trying to bring the tenders alongside the ship during breakfast and agreed with the captain's decision. It was the only safe one to be made.
Since this meant another day at sea, Bob and I spent time wandering around the ship and taking pictures. The ship had some opulent decorating as evident as seen in one of the elevator foyers and in the Crow's Nest lounge area. The Crow's Nest was located on Deck 10 forward overlooking the front bow of the ship. A magnificant place to enjoy the beautiful Caribbean sunrises and sunsets.
The Aft pool (one of two pools aboard) and the ship's wake.
Rain at sea
As we made our way back to Ft. Lauderdale, Our ship passed through a mild rainstorm. These pictures were taken from our balcony as the rain approached and then cleared.
Carribean sunsets
All in all, it was a fabulous vacation. I highly recommend a cruise for anyone who wants to get away from it and leave the cooking, cleaning, planning, etc. to someone else. Below are just some of the spectacular sunset shots during our week on the Eastern Caribbean.
